Testimony of Navjot Charles

I welcome you in the name of Christ Jesus. My name is Navjot. I was born inIndiain a Hindu family.

While growing up there was always a divine desire in me to know about Christianity. I remember two occasions. Once I asked a Christian girl as to what she did in a church. On another occasion I asked another Christian girl to invite me to her wedding as I did not know about Christian weddings and at that point had never attended one.

God has placed a desire in everyone to know Him. He even placed this desire in me and the by the grace of God this desire was manifested.

After I finished my schooling I moved to another city where I met my husband, Vikas. Both of us worked for the same hospital and the Lord moved in marvellous ways. I had worked for the hospital for two years and Vikas asked me to leave my job and move with him to his hometown. At this point of time we were not married, nor were we engaged, neither had he said a word to me about getting married. But I left my job and moved with him to his hometown. This happened in February 2008. The next month we got married.

In order for me to marry Vikas, I had to become a Christian. For this I had to sign a legal government document stating that by my free will and under no pressure I chose to become a Christian. My parent had to come from my hometown to sign along with me this legal document. At this time I was sprinkle baptised. Vikas and I got married.

Little did I know when I asked the Christian girl as to what she did in a church that I would become a Christian and little did I know that when I asked the Christian girl to invite me to her wedding I would be getting married in Church in a white dress.

Being from a Hindu family my family and I did not know what were the necessary things to be done for a wedding. Vikas and his family came along side and helped us. The Lord arranged for all the things pertaining to the wedding from the food to the clothes, everything was taken care of.

I thank the Lord that my parents were willing for me to marry Vikas, even though he was a Christian and they came to sing the document, witness my new birth and be part of my wedding.

God has been exceedingly merciful and gracious towards me. I use the word merciful because mercy is for a sinner and the Bible says in Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. Once my sins were as scarlet, but now I am white as snow, 1 washed in the redeeming and precious blood of the Lamb. 2 I am no longer a sinner, 2 but I am a child of God and I have been made a joint heir with Christ. 3 and I use the word gracious because grace means unmerited favour and is for all those who are sons of God. The Bible says in John 1:12 and 13 – 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And this I know with all my being that I received Him and continue to believe in His name. For there is no other by which man can be saved 4 and to His name every knee will bow. 5

When I got married I began attending a main stream Church with my new family, but my hunger for the Lord kept growing and I wanted to know my Messiah even more and in the year 2010 we began attending a Spirit filled church. It was there where we were water baptised and received a greater revelation of the Living God. We were strengthened by His word and we began to understand numerous things. We learnt what it meant to worship the Lord and not just stand through and sing a couple of songs during a song service.

In the same year we applied to migrate toCanadaand by the grace of God we received our visa within 7 months without any interview at the embassy. The Lord helped us to gather and arrange all the necessary documents and finances that we needed for the immigration process. And by the grace of God we came toCanadalast year.

Since we came to Canadawe have sent the faithfulness of God to abound continually. We came to know that He never fails us nor forsakes us, 6 He is with us, 7 He leads and guides us by his word each day 8 and His mercies are new everyday. 9 I can say that through trials and tribulations God has been with us.

Being lead by the Holy Spirit Paul says in 2 Corinthians chapter 1 and verse 3 and 4 – 3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. I can now say this that God is my comforter for I have known Him as a comforter.

Since we came toCanadaboth of us have cleared the Canadian Personal Support Workers exam. Further more I rejoice to share with everyone that this month God blessed us with a place of our own to stay. We live upstairs and work downstairs. In this too I see the grace and love of God. Truly God is taking us from victory to victory and glory to glory.

In the few years that I have know the Lord I have known Him to be merciful, exceeding gracious, full of loving kindness, a protector, a healer, a saviour, a comforter, a provider, a guide, the truth, the way, the only Living God.

If you haven’t accepted the Lord as your saviour do so because I can tell you that He is good.
